*  Websense Data 2008

Well – it’s another early morning for the city of Brunswick, Ohio.  An elusive hacker took to the airways again – this time to set off 6 air alarms which woke folks from the entire county.

To add insult to injury – a telephone notification system then called 13,000 Brunswick families to let them know that the air alarms were false ensuring no one would have a successful night sleep.

I have a theory that the hacker is a nurse trying to keep her job.

I can see it now just a short 9 months from today.

Two Texting Teachers Try To Temp Teen – Thwarted –

Two former Turlock Christian School teachers will face felony charges after being accused of trying to arrange group sex with a 16-year-old student by sending her sexually explicit text messages.

In October 2007, Uruguay was the first country to purchase the laptops for its students.  The order at that time was relatively small – 100,000 computers for students in first thru seventh grades.

Today marks a new change.  President Tabare Vasquez has announced a new technology commitment that all children and teachers in the country will have their own laptops.

This forward thinking solution should be honored.  I now look forward to learning what e-Safety education model they implement.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is crying (foul) and finding out that they have no control over the judges.  That’s because the Chinese government has (brought in a ringer) who added a new stipulation in its conversation about internet access to reporters.

At first, the IOC established a set of guidelines to let China (block) sensitive websites despite promises of unrestricted access.  Later, like the Chinese Woman’s Swim Team, they cheated (injecting) Internet-spying equipment in all the major hotel chains serving the 2008 Summer Olympics.

The IOC (all washed up) said they were promised to have the same electronic/media freedoms they enjoyed at previous Olympic competitions.

So who will have the last (say) you ask?  I don’t know. But what I do know is that I am going to bet on the Chinese and parlay those winnings on Michael Phelps breaking Mark Spitz’s record.

Wish me luck!

Michael Savage v. CAIR

Michael Savage a radio host sued the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) alleging that CAIR infringed the copyright of his show.

How did this all come about?

CAIR a Washington-based civil rights and advocacy organization posted brief audio clips from Savage’s program on its website.  Savage’s “The Savage Nation” radio program airs on more than 300 radio stations nationwide and on one of his shows he shouted attacks on Muslims, Islam and the Quran.  CAIR posted the audio clips to publicly showcase Mr. Savage’s position.

Friday, in a huge victory for freedom of speech, a federal district court in California dismissed Michael Savage’s lawsuit.  The decision reaffirms that using limited portions of someone’s copyrighted work for purposes of criticizing that work generally falls within copyright law’s fair use exception.
